Africa Insight, an independent publication promoting an insight into the process of change in Africa, is the quarterly journal of the Africa Institute. It seeks to reflect thinking about theoretical and practical developments in the discipline of African studies, particularly as these affect South Africa; and about political, economic, cultural, social, legal, and technological developments on the continent. The Journal's purpose is to provide Africanists - both professional and lay - with insight into the process of change in Africa. This goal is effected by publishing articles, debates and book reviews. Africa Insight is a refereed journal. It comprises:

  • Well-researched and professionally referenced information and opinion, written by experts in their fields. Coverage of a wide range of diverse topics (political trends and events, democratization, economic issues, regional cooperation, international relations, conflict resolution, aspects of education and training, health hazards, community development, food security, institutional capacity building) provides a rich kaleidoscopic overview of Africa and its countries.
  • Book reviews on current publications of interest to Africa-watchers
