The Ghana Journal of Agricultural Science is a national scientific journal which is published by the National Science and Technology Press to serve as an outlet for papers concerning West African agriculture and related disciplines.

Emphasis is placed on the interrelationship between the experimental and environmental sciences, and preference will be given to papers which present the results of original research or new investigations into the changing situation in which subsistence agriculture, closely controlled by its physical and biological environments, is only slowly becoming capitalised and fertility-improving in the long term. Also, because the ultimate end-product of agricultural research the improvement of farming, it is editorial policy to call attention to, and solicit papers in, two fields of study which it is believed have been neglected in the past: indigenous economics associated with rural sociology; and the day-to-day practice of tropical agronomy and animal husbandry.

Contributions in socio-economics which are particularly solicited are those which report small-scale investigations undertaken as research projects at stated times and places, on the assumption that a methodology-by-example will emerge through the publication of the results of a wide selection of such empirical environmental studies.
