International Centre for Eye Health (ICEH) Focus on DCs
ICEH is a WHO Collaborating Center for the Prevention of Blindness, based at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. The organization helps the Vision 2020 global initiative to reduce avoidable blindness, with a particular emphasis on low income countries. The site includes information on the Center and its research, teaching and information services. OptoNews Africa is a non-governmental, non-profit initiative to improve visual and eye health in Africa. The site includes the free newsletter OptoNews, which contains optometric information and education for eye health workers throughout Africa. Success in MRCOphth
This site is for doctors who are taking specialist exams in ophthalmology (Membership of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists). Unite for Sight French Focus on DCs
A U.S. based non-government organization, Unite for Sight works to develop sustainable solutions to eye care needs in the underserved population within the United States and developing countries. The organization emphasizes health education and disease prevention. The site contains links to brochures in English and French to educate international communities about health and disease, including trachoma, river blindness, glaucoma, diabetes, malaria, and yellow fever. VISION 2020 is a multi-organization initiative aiming to help eliminate needless blindness by the year 2020. The organization supports the development of adequate eye care facilities, trains eye care workers, implements programs to control the major causes of blindness and fosters collaborative efforts.
