This site provides information for media professionals in global HIV/AIDS. It contains multimedia resources, a library of print documents, current ‘news features’ and a listing of press contacts for major organizations. AIDS Pandemic in the 21st CenturyFocus on DCs new
The report is an update on the worldwide HIV/AIDS pandemic and includes information on the impact of AIDS on mortality and population globally. It also reviews the current status of the epidemic in Africa, Asia and Latin America. AIDSchannel.orgFocus on DCs
This site is a multimedia portal on issues relating to HIV/AIDS. It provides current news from around the world, policy statements and editorials, an email digest, a global guide to HIV, and links to other resources. The site also hosts the OneWorld Radio AIDS Network, which provides services and networking for broadcasters and NGOs working together in the fight against AIDS. AIDScience: Prevention and Vaccine Research
The site provides researchers with nformation on all aspects of AIDS prevention and vaccine development. It is a combination of peer-reviewed articles, policy papers and commentaries, news and journal headlines and a global projects map for prevention research projects and vaccine trials. AllAfrica.com: AIDS French Focus on DCs
This comprehensive news site collects information from African correspondents and 60 national news agencies. The site is updated every day. It includes feature articles and full-text reports from conferences and non-governmental agencies. The site also includes articles from the Pan African News Agency and is available in English and French. http://allafrica.com/aids/


Center for AIDS Prevention Studies (CAPS)
The Center for AIDS Prevention Studies (CAPS) conducts research on methods to prevent HIV infection; trains new scientists to conduct prevention research; disseminates knowledge, research and prevention models; and collaborates with scientists from developing countries on research. The site includes a series of fact sheets on prevention of HIV/AIDS, for the general public and health workers, in English and Spanish. The content appears to be particularly oriented to the U.S. but does include useful generic information plus a limited amount of information that is specific to developing countries. Centers for Disease Control, U.S: Division of HIV/AIDS Prevention
The CDC provides a wealth of full-text documents on basic science, research, treatment and general information (news headlines, fact sheets, brochures, statistics). Communicable Disease Prevention and Control
This site publishes peer-reviewed research across all areas of biology and medicine, with immediate, barrier-free access for all. The initial page links to 'hot' research articles from current journals. The site contains a keyword search index. http://www.cdpc.com/main.htm


The Communication Initiative: HIV/AIDS section Spanish Focus on DCs
The Communication Initiative is a partnership of development organisations seeking to support advances in the effectiveness and scale of communication interventions for positive international development. The HIV-AIDS section provides summaries of health related communication projects and studies. The material ranges from academic studies to grass roots projects. It is available in English and Spanish and includes a search engine. This is a USAID funded and maintained project. http://www.comminit.com/hivaids/


Confronting AIDS: Public Priorities in a Global EpidemicFocus on DCs

It also contains a current news section, calendar of events and database of programs and projects. Family Health International: HIV/AIDS French Arabic Russian Focus on DCs
The site summarizes the HIV/AIDS prevention programs of the Family Health International. It reviews numerous ‘best practices’ that were pioneered by the organization and includes several full text reports. The website provides information on HIV/AIDS issues to policymakers, the media, and the general public. It is a combination of daily reports, webcasts, conference summaries and policy statements with an international perspective. HIV and AIDS Online Minicourse Focus on DCs
This minicourse is designed to provide a basic introduction to HIV/AIDS. It is designed for reproductive health and other health care providers, staff, planners, and managers in resource-poor settings. The course contains seven modules and also a glossary of terms. HIV and AIDS Tutorial new
This tutorial reviews the basics of the immune system response to the HIV infection. It also discusses the commonly used anti-retroviral drugs and their mode of action. The site includes a series of ‘problem sets’ to help the user test recently acquired knowledge. It also contains annotated links to other sites with HIV/AIDS information.
