African Networks for Health Research and Development Focus on DCs
This site links to more than 20 African health research sites, and contains instructions on how to subscribe to the email discussion list, AFRO-NETS. The site is sponsored by SatelLife.http://www.afronets.org/


BIOME
BIOME provides access to quality Internet resources in the fields of agriculture, food, forestry, pharmaceutical sciences, medicine, nursing, dentistry, biological research, veterinary sciences, the natural world, botany, zoology, and more. Its five subject gateways are cross-searchable and cross-browsable. The service is coordinated by the University of Nottingham (UK), together with a formidable range of high profile partners and content providers from the UK health and life science sectors. Council on Health Research for Development (COHRED) Focus on DCs
COHRED is a non-governmental organization closely linked to the UNDP. COHRED promotes, facilitates, supports and evaluates Essential National Health Research (ENHR). It works directly with countries, facilitating technical and financial support for the development of effective national health research systems. The COHRED online database allows users to store and retrieve information about countries, people, organizations, links, events, activities and documents relevant to ENHR. http://www.cohred.ch


Global Forum for Health Research Focus on DCs
The Global Forum focuses on the health problems of the poor. It aims to improve the allocation of research funds and facilitates collaboration among partners, both in the public and private sectors. The site includes the ‘10/90 Report’ (an estimated 10% of global biomedical research funds are used for research into 90% of the world's health problems), the Annual Forum on Health Research, and Communicating Health Research. Medical Research Council of South Africa Focus on DCs
The South Africa MRC site includes information about the organization's structure and activities including conferences, research, funding information, interorganizational collaboration and press releases. http://www.mrc.ac.za/


Organizing Medical Networked Information (OMNI)
OMNI is a guide to evaluated medicine and bioscience Internet resources: 'the UK's gateway to high quality biomedical Internet resources'. Although the site is targeted to the UK health professionals, it is of value to health professionals worldwide http://omni.ac.uk


Scientists for Health and Research for Development (SHARED) Spanish French Portuguese Focus on DCs
SHARED provides information about ongoing research and development projects related to major health problems in developing countries. SHARED aims to enhance availability and exchange of information on health research with and in developing countries. It promotes partnerships in research through international equitable networking and improves the relevance of health research for development through enhanced coordination with the health sector. The site is funded by the European Union and European Commission and is available in English, French, Spanish and Portuguese. www.shared-global.org
